Call for Papers: “Myanmar Studies from Center, Periphery and Boundary: (Old View, New Version) An Interdisciplinary International Symposium” 16-17, SEPTEMBER, 2019, NAYPYIDAW DEPARTMENT OF HISTORICAL RESEARCH AND NATIONAL LIBRARY

..................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Over the past decades, studies on Myanmar’s diverse and dynamic “borderworlds’ have not had much of a presence in official narratives inside the country. Myanmar studies inside Myanmar have primarily focused on the “Center” where Myanmar studies outside the country have often privileged “the Periphery”.

The purpose of this symposium is to provide a forum for scholars focusing on Myanmar studies to join together and engage in interdisciplinary exchange of ideas, accommodating both old views and new versions, to help improve our joint understanding of Myanmar’s past. We aim for dialogue between diverse perspectives.

“Myanmar Studies from Center, Periphery and Boundary:

(Old View, New Version) An Interdisciplinary International Symposium” is a conference which is expected to serve as a platform that encourages a new direction in local and foreign scholarships on Myanmar. Therefore, we may find new perspectives discussing newly-emerged researches, both local and foreign, on a variety of disciplines.

So, the conference welcomes research papers in any discipline under the category of Myanmar Studies.
